Commitment
Accessibility
We want this site to work with a keyboard, screen reader, zoom, dark mode and a slow connection. Accessibility is not an extra: it is part of the design.
Status: initial review. The target is WCAG 2.2 AA. We have not yet completed an external audit or testing with every device and screen reader.Updated: 5 Nov 2026
What we do
Measures in place
- Semantic HTML and a coherent heading hierarchy.
- Full keyboard navigation and visible focus.
- Text contrast checked in light and dark modes.
- Descriptive link text, never “click here”.
- Forms with labels, instructions and clear errors when available.
- Respect for prefers-reduced-motion and browser zoom.
- Maps and charts with a textual alternative or data table.
- PWA connection, update and permission states that make sense.
Limitations
Still to review
- Full axe audit and manual review.
- Testing with VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack.
- Account, incident and comment forms.
- Maps and data visualisations.
- Admin and moderation panel.
- Push notifications and the iOS install flow.
If you find a barrier, we want to know. The contact channel will be published before launch.
How to test
Three quick checks
Keyboard only
Tab through the page. You should always see where focus is and be able to use every link and button.
200% zoom
Zoom in. Content should remain readable and should not be cut off.
Dark mode
Switch the theme. Text should keep enough contrast and states should not rely on colour alone.
